When I saw the Butterfly Thinlit Dies that Stampin Up sent me I knew I wanted to make something really pretty and delicate. The butterflies I made today would be perfect for many things – embellishments on scrapbook pages, cards, crafts, etc. Today though I used them to make some cupcake toppers and I just LOVE how they turned out.
Butterfly Cupcake Toppers
- Butterfly Thinlet Dies
- Silver Glimmer Paper
- Pink Cardstock
- Mini Glue Dots
- Adhesive Rhinestones (I used blue)
So first make your favorite cupcakes. While the cupcakes are baking and cooling you can quickly make up the cupcake toppers.
Start off by punching out your butterflies. Use the small butterfly die on the pink cardstock. Use the medium butterfly die with the glimmer paper. For the glimmer paper I had to roll the die through my machine about 5 times. The paper is thicker and the butterfly has lots of small pieces that need to be punched out. It is worth it though because it is so pretty! Every machine is different so I would test it on one to see how many times you need to roll it through your machine.
On the small pink butterflies put 2 small rhinestones down the middle.
Gently bend the wings on the pink and silver butterflies.
Using your glue dots glue the pink butterfly onto the silver butterfly. I also attached a toothpick on the back of each with a glue dot as well.
Now push the toothpicks into the cupcakes and you have some beautiful butterfly cupcakes!
Perfect for any girly party you might be throwing and so incredibly quick and easy!
