The Motherhood is partnering with a fabulous non-profit called Champions for Kids and they asked me to participate! I hope I can encourage all of you to host your own SIMPLE service project to benefit the kids in your community! It is so super easy to get involved!
Champions for Kids is partnering with Elmer’s “Bag it Forward” campaign and with them I have been collecting school supplies for a needy school in my community! This was so fun and easy to do – I was able to fit it into something I had already planned.
We were having a party with lots of family, friends and neighbors. A big fireworks show that we do every year. I let as many people as I could know that I was also have a School Supply Drive along with my party. When I went shopping for my party supplies I was easily able to grab some supplies of my own to donate to a local school. So super easy! I then put everything in a box and put a sign on it letting people know where they could drop off their supplies.
We had a bunch of donations and it didn’t seem to be a hardship on anyone. Everyone seemed to be glad to be donating.
We then ate some yummy treats, watched a big firework show and had a great time.
The fireworks were so beautiful! I love the show my husband puts on every year!
Clean up the next day took a bit of time but it was worth it!
Here is just some of the fun stuff that will be donated to the school
I am so glad Elmers asked me to join in and I hope all of you can find some way to put together a little service project – every little thing helps!
We will be donating the box of supplies tomorrow so I will update with a picture of that once we have dropped the box off at the school. I am glad I am able to teach my kids about donating (they are begging for so many of the supplies). I have explained to them that so many children lack even the basic things needed for school. Teachers will often spend their own money on school supplies (I know several teachers who do) .
(Update- The Box of school supplies have been dropped off an I feel like hey were very appreciated)
On my street their is a Kindergarten teacher and a Teacher’s Aid who work together at the same school. Through several conversations with them I have learned the children in this school have many struggles. I am donating these supplies to this school because I know it is really needed. Many of the children will be receiving these supplies as extra incentives and gifts as the teachers know the kids do not have any supplies at home.
So I challenge you to get together with your family, some friends or even your neighborhood and do a SIMPLE service project of your own!
If you are looking for another way to participate you can visit your participating Walmart store between July 7 – August 1. Keep a look for the purple product display and yellow donation bin. Choose school supplies and donate them right inside the store to help children in your local schools! Isn’t that an awesome way to help out!
