I just love making new crafts at Christmas and this past weekend I made some Glitter Snowflakes and Rudolph and I love how they turned out!
I think Glitter is so fun to add to crafts and really adds a little something extra to the project. I happen to love everything glitter so when I received all of this fabulous Glitter from Michael’s I was pretty excited!
Michael’s Recollections glitter comes in a variety of colors and textures (very fine, chunky, tinsel, etc.) with prices starting at $3.99 at Michael’s stores. You can purchase the glitter in a set or even individually if you just need one color. These are perfect for a variety of craft project.
My favorite glitter is Extra Fine Glitter and now I have some in pretty much any color – yea!!
Adding Glitter to my snowflakes was super easy – let me show you how I did it. First you will need some wood snowflakes
Grab the glitter you need for this project – I used white and blue for the snowflakes and red for Rudolph.
I painted three of the snowflakes white and three of them blue
I then placed some wax paper on some plates and spread the glitter on the plate. Once the snowflakes were dry I painted another coat of paint on the snowflakes and while the paint was still wet I pressed them into the glitter.
Repeat this with all of the other snowflakes. The glitter can now be easily put back into the bottle, just shake the excess glitter to the center of the wax paper and then you can fold the wax paper in half and carefully pour the glitter back in the container. Once dry I sprayed the snowflakes with a clear coat to help keep the Glitter on the snowflakes.
The glitter on the snowflakes look so pretty!
I tied each snowflake onto a string and hung from the shelf in my living room.
I also used the same technique for Rudolph’s nose.
I love the glitter on his nose
So cute right? Here he is on my shelf
Here is my entire shelf – I am not sure if I am done with it yet – I think I want to add a bit more – maybe some silver bells with the snowflakes or some lights around the base of the shelf.
