I love foods that can be eaten for breakfast, snacks or desserts. This Apple Pastry Turnover can fit in all three categories. It is a great addition to my easy dessert recipes also. All you need is a glass of milk and you get almost all of your food groups in one. I bet these are healthier version of the famous McDonalds Apple Pie which I used to eat all the time, and you can feel good about making them for your kids. I promise they will thank you for them.
It is a quick and easy recipe that can be on your table in less than 30 minutes. The only real work you have to do is peel, core and dice the apples. I love using puff pastry and you can make so many different recipes with it. It is light and flaky and tastes like you make it from scratch. You can make 4 turnovers from 1 sheet of dough, or you can make 8 from the whole package. If you prefer not to use an egg wash which will make it shiny and crispier, you can just dust some powdered sugar on top. It makes it prettier and adds a little sweetness to it.

It took about 5 minutes to peel, core and dice the apples and I actually had some left over. Then I simmered everything in a pan for about 5 minutes while I cut the pastry sheets. These would be great for Sunday morning brunch. If you really want to be daring, just add a little brie cheese to change it up a bit.
