Apple Pecan Pastry Recipe perfect for your holiday baking!

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my discolsure police here.
I really love this time of year with all of the cooking and holiday baking.  The Turkeys, stuffing, rolls, pies and so many other yummy foods.  The desserts are my favorite!  One dessert I love to make is my Apple Pecan Pastry.

Apple Pecan Pastry

Printable Recipe

Ingredients Needed:

  • 3 Green Apples
  • 2 sticks of Butter
  • 2 Sheets Frozen Puff Pastry (found in the frozen food section)
  • 1 cup Pecans (chopped into small pieces)
  • Egg Wash (1 egg lightly beaten with 1 Tbsp of Water)
  • 1/4 Tsp. Cinnamon
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1/8 Tsp. Nutmeg
  • Caramel & Vanilla Icecream (optional)
(this makes 18 individual servings)

Step 1 – Pull the Puff Pastry out of the freezer and let it defrost according to the package directions.  Once defrosted unfold the pastry and roll it out just a bit with a rolling pin.  Cut the pastry into squares.  You should have 9 squares per sheet of Puff Pastry.  Place the squares onto some parchment paper on a cookie sheet.  Next brush the center of your puff pastry squares with your egg wash.  Do not brush the sides or the puff pastry will not rise.

Step 2 – Peel, core and thinly slice your green apples. Place apples in a bowl with chopped pecans and toss with the sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg until everything is nicely coated.

Step 3 – Place about 1/4 cup in the center of each puff pastry square.

Step 4 – Grab a stick of your Land O Lakes butter and cut into 1 Tbsp. slices – then cut each of those in half.

Step 5 – Place a cube of butter on the top of each puff pasty. This is important – this is where all of the magic happens!  While in the oven the butter will melt over the cinnamon/sugar coated apples.  This will help cook the apples and will melt with the cinnamon sugar to make a yummy sauce!

Step 6 – Bake in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes.  It should be golden brown – if not cook for a minute or two more until golden brown.  I overcooked mine by like 5 minutes but they still turned out great!

Step 7 – You could serve it just like this – that is how my son Carson like it.  My other two kids like it with a scoop of Vanilla icecream on top.  I like to serve (and eat it) with a scoop of Vanilla icecream and a drizzle of caramel.  So delicious!

Go and make this!!  It really is so simple and delicious!!

just popping over from the Say Not Sweet Anne Sweet Sharing Monday Link Party. These apple pecan pastries look really yummy! I really like what happens in the oven when I use puff pastry! I have no doubt that these disappear rather rapidly! I have pinned, liked and tweeted, and g+-ed. I would love it if you would drop by my site at http://www.kneadedcreations.com for a short visit! I will look forward to seeing you there! Deb @ Kneaded Creations.

I think you could make it the night before. It is good at room temperature or throw it in the microwave for about 30 seconds to warm up.

Can’t wait to try your Appleecan Pastry! Just one question, after you place the apples on the pastry, do you leave it flat? Thanks so much
