I LOVE to decorate for Spring and Easter! Spring happens to be my favorite time of year so I love bringing nice, fresh spring colors into my home. Something I love to decorate with in Spring is eggs – they can be so fun and be used in so many different ways. I love button crafts so making this egg was something I just loved!
I made the Button Egg actually a couple of years ago but I never shared how I made it. So I thought now would be the perfect time!
- Frame – I painted/distressed one from the dollar store
- Fabric or burlap or cross stich fabric – I used burlap
- Buttons (pink)
- Embroidery floss to match buttons (pink)
- glue (I used elmers glue)
- masking tape
I will be using pictures from my Button Watermelon Tutorial to give you an idea on how I made this.
Step 1: We need to get the fabric ready for adding the buttons. Take the cardboard backing of the frame and place it on your fabric. Cut the fabric and make sure you have a good edge to fold over. Fold over each side and secure with masking tape. You will be removing the tape so don’t worry about doing a great tape job for now, just something to keep the fabric in place.
Step 2: Now comes the fun part of placing your buttons – moving buttons around to make sure everything fits nicely. I start by placing the bigger pink buttons in an egg shape and then adding smaller pink buttons to fill in the spaces. Don’t worry about it being perfect as things will move around once you start gluing down the buttons.
