Downton Abbey Party and Giveaway!

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my discolsure police here.

This past weekend I had a Downton Abbey Party with my friends – it was such fun!  You have probably seen me mention the World Market Downton Abbey collection and the #DoTheDownton Virtual party that happened this past Sunday.  To celebrate I threw a fun party and I am excited to share my party with you and hope it can inspire some Holiday Entertaining.  I am just loving the Downton Abbey show and it was fun talking about the show with my friends and hopefully converting some of my friends that don’t watch to start watching.

Downton Abbey Party

Downton Abbey Party

I had the party at my cousin Mandy’s house and we setup everything in her kitchen on her big island.  I used several items from the Downton Abbey collection at World Market and some of my other favorite World Market items to create a delicious looking buffet of treats and finger foods.

food

We had bread and cheese, Downton Abbey Shortbread cookies, fruit, cream puffs and my Raspberry scones.  We also had some chicken bites and roasted mushrooms – not pictured because they were still in the oven.

I think my favorite part of the Downton Abbey collection is the Teapot and Cups.  They are so pretty!

Tea pot and cups

Here is the Downton Abbey Shortbread, plates and napkins I bought for the party.

shortbread

I ended up taking the shortbread out of the container and arranging on a pretty platter.

Let me tell you about the scones that I made.  I was a little nervous at first to make them since they were something I have never made.  I was very happy with how they turned out.

I purchased the Downton Abbey Scone mix for the party but added some things to make it my own.  I also used the World Market Scone Pan

scone pan

Everyone said the scones were very good.  They would be perfect for your Holiday Baking.  Let me show you how I made them!

Raspberry Scones

Ingredients Needed:

  • Downton Abbey Scone Mix
  • 1 Cup fresh raspberries
  • 1 Tbsp Sugar

Glaze Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 Tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp lemon juice

Follow the instructions according to the box.  When it mentions adding in other ingredients add in your sugar and raspberries.  Follow the instructions on how to form the scones.  Put on your baking sheet or Scone pan and bake.

Baked Scones

Carefully remove the scones from the pan and drizzle on the glaze.

Raspberry Lemon Scone

These turned out so much better than I expected and everyone told me how much they liked them.  They weren’t dry at all like I thought they would be.

We had so much fun talking, enjoying some good food and talking about some of our favorite Downton Abbey moments.  I brought out a Downton Abbey quiz for everyone to do and handed out prizes.  The prizes I gave out were a scone mix, a Downton Abbey Calendar and the beautiful Downton Abbey Tea Pot.  The winners were excited to get them!

My friends are the best!!

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, as well as the food. We had fun taking some #DoTheDownton pictures with the beautiful Tea Cups.

To thank everyone for coming they all received a Downton Abbey Tote bag and a Downton Teacup

Aren’t these cups fun – love them!

Tote Bag

I felt like the party was a great sucess and it was so fun to put together!
