In fact we were at the movie theatre last week going to another movie as a family and she saw the FROZEN movie display and begged me to take a picture of her with Olaf.
When I was Christmas shopping I saw some fun toys from the FROZEN movie and just knew they would be the perfect Christmas present for Adison.
So I bought several of the adorable FROZEN dolls, book and coloring books. Plus I bought the Elsa doll to drop in the donation box – what little girl wouldn’t love to get this as a present!
I thought it would be cute to wrap these up with a Frozen theme so I made a cute Olaf gift tag for it. I put all of the presents into a big gift bag and them added the tag. For the gift tag I made a paper piecing of Olaf. I used to make paper piecings all the time for my scrapbooks but I haven’t done it forever, so it was fun to do again.
Olaf Gift Tag Tutorial
The first thing you will need is a picture of Olaf. I carefully pulled out a page out of the Frozen coloring book I purchased for Adison. Place the coloring page on a lightbox or a window with lots of sun.
Now trace all the pieces of Olaf on another paper. I figured out before hand what color I wanted everything so I traced them in that order. Some places where I knew I would be layering I made a little larger to make it easier to glue together (these spots I scribbled in darker to remind me that was a layering spot).
For this next step you will need really sharp scissors (I like cutterbee scissors for this). Cut out all the pieces that you traced. Then trace those onto the correct color of cardstock.
After everything is cut out I used a black ink pad on all of the edges.
Now you will glue everything together. I used glue dots and double sided tape. Using a fine tip black sharpie I drew in the eyebrows, eyeballs, lines on the face, lines on the arms, etc.
Now we are going to put the tag together. Using my diecut machine I cut out a circle, inked the edges with black ink and glued Olaf onto the circle. Using some black rubons I wrote To Adison. If you don’t have rubon letters you could use stickers or even your own handwriting. To hang the gift tag onto the bag I stapled some ribbon onto the tag and then will tie onto the bag. I am really happy with how it turned out!
I am hiding her present in my room until we put the Christmas Tree up (the day after Thanksgiving).
I can’t wait to see the look on her face when she sees this present – and then even better on Christmas morning to see how excited she will be to get her FROZEN toys to play with!
We are so super excited to go see FROZEN this weekend!! Do you and your family plan on seeing it?
