Happy Halloween everyone! Today I want to share my Monster cake.
Last week I was able to attend my first every cake decorating class. I had a blast! I decorated most of my cake at the class and came home to finish it. The class was held at Gygi and was taught by Ashlee from I’m Topsy Turvy – she made the fabulous Snap cake.
At the class I learned many decorating techniques that I found very useful. My camera died right at the beginning of class so I wasn’t able to grab pictures from the class.
We learned how to make rosette’s, ruffles, and many other techniques. I colored my frosting green and used one of the techniques I learned to decorate the cake this way
To make my Monster’s hair I added some chocolate frosting to the top
Thank I added a layer of chocolate chips
I then carefully scraped off the center of an oreo and added a dab of frosting and put it on the cake and then I added some m&m’s for the monsters eyes.
I think it turned out so cute! At first I was going to go for a Frankenstein look but I ran out of time before the party and didn’t have the items on hand to make ears or stitches. I think it turned out perfect just as a monster!
I took it to a family Halloween party and everyone loved it!
What I love most about Ashlee’s cake decorating classes is that they are held during the day while your kids are at school – so no need to find a babysitter! Ashlee will be teaching the first and second monday of each month.
Here are some of the beautiful cakes Ashlee has made – just love them!
