Today I am sharing a fun project made using some fun products like Project Life, Krylon and Mod Podge! I have had this idea in my head for awhile now and when I saw the Project Life cards I knew they would be perfect!
Happiness Home Decor Blocks
I received Product from Stampin Up and Krylon to use in some of my projects and I am just loving them! Let me show you how easy this project is to make! (links below are to product pages on Stampin Up, Krylon and Amazon)
- Project Life Happiness Is Collection
- Project Life Happiness Is Accesorry Pack
- Krylon Cover Maxx Spray Paint in Smoke Gray (Gloss)
- 2×4 wood cut 4 1/2 inches long
- Mod Podge
I love Project Life and use it in my scrapbook pages and crafts all of the time! I love the different themed packs and fun embellishments! Here is a closer look of the accessorry pack – such fun stuff! For this project I used the Happiness Is Project Life products – however, they are currently not available. Stampin Up does have 7 other Project Life Collections that would work perfectly with this project.
In the Project Life Collection cards there are different sized cards. I used the smallest cards. A 2×4 wood board was the perfect width. I just had to cut pieces that were 4 1/2 inches long – don’t forget to sand the wood. Here is the wood all ready, the different papers and embellishments I will be using
To paint my blocks I used Krylon Cover Maxx in Smoke Gray. I thought the Gray color matched the Gray in my Project Life papers nicely. I also like using Krylon Cover Maxx on my wood projects because I feel it gave good coverage. I had to spray the blocks once and once dry I just had to touch up a few spots that I missed. It was very easy to get the blocks painted and took no time at all.
Krylon Cover Maxx paint is good for Indoor or Outdoor projects and can be used on metal, wood, plastic and so much more. It has a paint and primer and dries quickly.
Once the blocks were dry I added the Project Life cards to the wood using Mod Podge.
Let the Mod Podge dry and then you can add the embellishments. I added a hexagon wood piece (says love this) to the block with hexagon paper
and added a sticker to the orange block.
Then I had fun stacking them in different ways on my shelf.
I settled on this
For those of you who are wondering about this frame let me tell you….
It may seem a bit weird but it is special to me. The most happiest person I know is my Grandma. She lived such a full good life (passed away about 20 years ago). She was the best thing that ever happened to my life. I strive to be good, kind and loving all because of her. A day doesn’t go by that I don’t think of her. She was so funny and always had the oddest sayings and made everyone she met feel so imporant and loved. If anyone ever asks you can tell them that she loved me the most!
When she was first married she did not have many belongings. It was a very cold winter and my Grandpa and Grandma did not have a blanket. She had a lot of old coats though and the old coats were cut and pieced together and sewn into a blanket. When my Grandma passed away the blanket was in tatters but still oh so special – a rememberance of the legacy she left. My mom put pieces of the blanket in frames along with flower petals from her funeral for several people. This will always be cherished in my home and brings me such joy and happiness when I think about her.
