Haunted Halloween House

Are you ready to start thinking about Halloween yet?  I am so excited to share my Haunted Halloween House with you today.  It makes the most perfect treat box or is perfect to use in decorating!

Haunted Halloween House from foodcraftsandfamily.com

The Stampin Up Holiday catalog was just released and I received some fun product from their catalog to create and share on my blog.  I am loving this years holiday catalog.  There are so many things I just had to have!  I used some of the holiday catalog products to make my Haunted Halloween House and I am just in love with how it turned out!

Haunted Halloween House

Here is what I used today:

Stampin Up Hallowen Products

Supplies Needed:

These supplies are linked to the supplies I used (From Stampin Up an Amazon affiliate):

  • Halloween Night Specialty Designer Paper
  • Sweet Home Stamp and Thinlet Bundle
  • Ink Pads (Orange, purple, black)
  • Halloween Night Enamel Dots
  • Orange and Black Cardstock
  • Die cutting machine – I used a Big Shot
  • Adhesive – I used  Liquid Glue and Dimensionals

To start off use your diecutting machine (I used a Big Shot) cut out the house shape.  I was able to stack two sheets of the paper and cut them out at the same time.  I loved the design on the Specialty paper – perfect for a house.

cut house

Your next step is to cut out your windows and door.  You want to use the window piece that just cuts the 4 window holes.  the door piece just cuts on three sides so you can have a door that opens and closes.  Make sure you put the door piece on the correct side when cutting them out.

Using orange cardstock cut out your window and door frames.

Then glue them on.  I love this glue!  It has a nice tip to get the glue exactly where you want it.  It dries quickly and dries clear.

glue frames

Fold over and crease all of your house pieces and glue your house together matching up the tabs to the house.  If this is for decoration or if you are adding small treats you can glue the entire house together.  However, I was adding treats that would not fit through the front door so I kept the back piece unglued.  I also cut a circle in the back to make it easy to open and shut the back.

Next cut your roof pieces from black cardstock.  The amount of pieces depends on how close you glue each piece.  I believe I ended up putting 6 pieces on each side.

After you cut your pieces I gently curled the edges up using my fingers and then glued them onto the house – starting at the bottom.

I love how the roof ends up looking.  the curling helps with the haunted halloween look.

To make the house really cute we need to add a few things.  Using the stamp set and thinlets I stamped and cut out a Door in orange, a ghost a bat and Trick or Treat Sign.

Add these to your house using glue (door) and dimensional dots.  Also add a doorknob with one of the Halloween Night Enamel Dots.

How cute is that??!!

Now to add some cute treats I cut strips of paper from the design series.

paper strips

I wrapped the strips around candies for a cute Halloween treat!

Open the back of your house and stack some treats inside.

Close the back and you have a really fun treat to hand out to friends – or to give to your kids – or to keep for yourself!

I am excited to use this stamp and thinlet set to make some other kinds of houses (I will be sharing my Christmas house later!)  What kind of house would you like to see made using this set?
