In September I had the opportunity to spend the day at Universal Studios Hollywood. It was my first time to Universal Studios so I didn’t know what to expect and I was quite excited to see everything. I was able to go with some of my friends and look at the new rides (well everything was new to me) and see the preparations for the Halloween Horror Nights.
I visited the park with several of my blogger friends while we in Hollywood for a conference that previous week. I had such fun going on rides with Ashlee (from Ashlee Marie), Jill (from Being Spiffy) and Jana (from Merlot Mommy). These ladies are such fun and I hope to be able to hang out again with all of them as we had such a great time!
Studio Tour Now updated with Fast & Furious Finale
The first thing we did was head to the Studio Tour. We got to the park right when it opened and thought we should catch the Studio Tour before it became too busy. On the Studio tour you are provided with 3-D glasses to wear at certain times. There was a variety of things to look at and enjoy. We were given a tour of the backlots and were able to see where some things had been filmed. Here is a picture I took of the Clock Tower from Back to the future.
I absolutely loved the King Kong portion of this ride! So much fun. Here is a model of Skull Island. Now I need to go watch that movie again!
Another fun part of the Studio Tour was the new addition of Fast and the Furious. It was a wild adventure jam packed full of excitement, fun and great 3-D affects.
Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
Next we headed to the new Despicable Me ride. I adore Gru, his daughters and the Minions. Have you ever wanted to be a Minion? With this ride you get to see what it is like to be a Minion.
This ride was my chance to become a minion so I could enjoy all of the bananas I wanted! I really enjoyed this ride and can’t wait to bring the family so they can experience it themselves. Out of all of the rides I went on today this was a favorite. It is something I enjoyed and know that the kids would love – perfect for the entire family!
Gru was walking around outside and told me he needed more minions. So I headed onto the ride to be his newest recruit.
With the amazing technology and the magic of 3-D glasses and other sensory components I was turned into a minion and was able to go through training with Gru’s daughters. But with minions things are never so simple and I was taken for a fun and bumpy ride before being turned back into a human.
Of course I enjoyed many of the other rides. One of these was the Revenge of the Mummy. The Mummy movies hold a special place in my heart and I am often quoting movie lines to others from these movies. I just love this picture of us on the Revenge of the Mummy ride. Poor Jill has her eyes closed.
Halloween Horror Nights
If you are someone who loves to get scared then you will want to visit Universal Studios Hollywood for their Halloween Horror Nights. It is the Ultimate Fear Destination. They have all new mazes, a dance show and an exclusive “Terror Tram” experience.
While walking around the park there were many displays set up for the upcoming Halloween Horror Nights.
I just love the picture of Jana almost getting here head chopped off.
During Halloween Horror Nights Universal’s most popular rides and attractions will also be open.

So fun! We just went to Universal Orlando about a month ago and didn’t get a chance to stay for Halloween Horror Nights. I wish we would have! (Side note + really random – I just saw Ashlee on TV two nights ago for the Halloween Baking Championship and loved her dishes! Very cool that you know her! 🙂 )
