This Monogram Bag was made with the Amy Tangerine Plus One Collection. I was so excited when I received a box of fun goodies from Amy Tangerine – it was filled with all sorts of delicious craft supplies that have given me so many crafts ideas! When I saw the stencils and thread I instantly knew I wanted to make a monogrammed bag for my daughter Adison.
I really enjoyed working with all of these lovely supplies. They were fun, unique and helped me inspire creativity in myself.
For todays project I used the Embroidery Alpha Stencils and thread kit. Let me show you how I made this cute Monogram Bag!
Monogram Bag for Adison

- Canvas Bag
I started with the outline of the A. I used the A stencil and marked the holes on my fabric to show where I want the thread to go. I marked the fabric with a pencil (you will need a super sharp pencil or a mechanical pencil – in order to fit through the holes on the stencil). Once the holes were marked I used the black thread and needle (needles included in the kit) to sew my A.
I then filled in the A with 3 different colors. The colors I used were Cherry, Aqua and Cricket.
Because my daughter loves flowers I thought some nice flowers in the same colors would be perfect. For the center of the flower I used the Cricket thread and made a simple x (cross stitch). Then for the petals I did a lazy daisy stitch. Lazy daisy stitches are easy to do and make perfect flowers.
First you come up with your thread and then back down right next to the spot you came at. Pull the thread through until you have a small loop. Bring the needle back up and make sure it goes through the loop. Depending on where you bring the needle up will determine the size of the flower petal. Pull the needle all the way through until the loop is flat against the fabric. Now to secure the petal you do a stitch down right above where you came up (over the loop). I hope this makes sense – hopefully these pictures will help!
Repeat the process until you have as many petals you want and you will have a really pretty flower.
I just love how the embroidery turned out!
The Plus One Collection was released in winter 2014 and was the top selling signature line. It has sold out in most stores and online. But never fear – even though it is sold out in most places you still have the chance to get the Amy Tangerine Plus One paper craft collection! It will be available for sale on HSN, March 24 – can’t wait!! There will be five different bundles available. These different bundles are the basic kit, embroidery kit, embellishment kit and stamping kit – al of these kits are just under $20. You will also be able to grab the sold out Plus One Project Life Mini Kit. Here are a few pictures of the kits that will be available
Adison is just loving her new bag – she told me she is planning on using it to hold her scriptures for church.
Which of these products are you most excited to craft with? Next I plan on playing with the fun papers and MINI Washi Tape!!
