Halloween is over and Thanksgiving is this week! My kids (me) are so excited to start decorating for Christmas! We can hardly wait! While I am making decorations and things for Christmas I have promised my husband that nothing will be put up until after Thanksgiving. This is my most favorite time of year, and for so many reasons! The decorations, gifts (yes I am a kid and love gifts on Christmas) and spending time thinking about the reason for the season! But my absolutely favorite things is the time spent with my family! I just LOVE the magic of Christmas!
This time of year we have so many family traditions. For one I try to get my Christmas shopping done early so I don’t have the stress of shopping the very last minute. After Thanksgiving we have a family night where we decorate the tree as a family – this is something we all look forward to. We put a favorite holiday movie on that we love and watch it as we decorate. We have a church party where Santa comes and reads us from the scriptures the story of Jesus’s birth and shares with us how he has given us the best gift of all. Here are the kids with Santa last year.
We also love to bake treats as a family (especially Adison) and it is so fun to share the treats with the neighbors. We watch at least one or two holiday movies a week as a family – it is so much fun! Another family tradition is driving through the Thanksgiving Point Christmas lights here in town while drinking hot chocolate and enjoying popcorn.
I was walking through Walmart doing some holiday shopping and saw the Northpole items that I knew they would love! Northpole is a new line from Hallmark of toys, party items that have been inspired by Santa’s home, the Northpole. #NorthpoleFun You can find these on an aisle that should be close to the cards/party section of the store.
The items are so fun and cute and I knew right away that the family would enjoy them – especially the snowballs! The snowballs light up and just the other night I walked into a dark living room where the kids where having a “nighttime” snowball fight. They were having such fun! Here is kayden showing us what they look like lit up.
My favorite item is the book. We just love to read in our home and it makes me happy when I walk into a room finding Adison reading it. The book is called Once Upon a Northpole Christmas. We loved reading about the magic in the Northpole, but I won’t give away any spoilers!
The book we bought came with a Find Me Santa Snowflake. It is such a cute idea. Your child can add their name and then hang it on the doorknob outside or a window. This is especially nice if you are not planning on spending Christmas in your own home. Just push a button to light the way for Santa. The snowflake will glow for several hours.
I was also excited to find the cute baking items. They have some elf baking tools and a sprinkle bell. I grabbed the sprinkle bell because I knew the kids would love decorating some cupcakes for family movie night.
The Northpole by Hallmark collection has a wide variety of items available. The fun snowballs are only $2.97 and my kids just love them! They have books, the Hallmark Movie, hostess gifts, baking items and a cute polar bear plush doll. The prices are reasonable from $2.97 to $29.99 A few of the items like the Once Upon a Northpole Christmas Book and the Find me Santa snowflake we bought, are only available at Walmart.
Now that you have heard about our family traditions I would love to hear some of yours!
