There are so many parts of my house that need some sprucing up (being that we purchased a bank owned home) and my front yard is one of them. We have family and friends coming over for fireworks in July so I really need to get my front yard in order. I don’t have the greenest thumb so yard work has never been my favorite thing to do.
To spruce up my front entrance we added some decorative bricks and are planning on adding some wood chips (next weekend). Maybe I will get brave enough to plant something in there as well. To prepare my son roto tilled the ground and then we added black plastic, I can’t wait to see what it looks like with the wood chips.
One thing I knew I wanted for sure was a way to show people my housenumber because it can be difficult to see. I decided to add a pretty pot by the front door with my housenumber – I loved the idea of adding some color with plants by my front door. It is such a simple project but will be easy for me to maintain.
- Miracle-Gro Potting Soil
- Vinyl Numbers ( I just cut out some simple numbers with my Cricut)
Now put in your plant and add more soil until the plants roots and base are covered. Water and place by your front door.
Add Vinyl letters – honestly this might be easier to add before you add your soil and plants but I wasn’t thinking when I did mine.
I think this adds a bit to my front porch and I have loved coming out to water the plants each day. This was a very simply project and so far my plants are thriving and living!
Miracle Gro has what I think is a great idea. They have started The Gro Project showcasing projects and ideas that are not complicated and are easy for someone like me to do. I also am enjoying the Miracle Gro articles and videos for gardening tips for beginners (like me) to professionals.
