I received product from Cricut for this blog post – all opinions are 100% mine.
Last week I shared my Christmas Pillowcase Tutorial and today I am going to show you how I put names on the pillowcases using Glitter Iron on Vinyl.
Let’s get started!
First you need to cut your names. I used the Cricut Craftroom and created my names with the Cricut Calligraphy cartridge. Once I had my names exactly as I wanted (I had each name 2.5 inches tall and 11.25 inches long) I then flipped/mirrored the image. You need to make sure you do this if you are working with words.
I then cut them out on black glitter iron on vinyl. I used the new Cricut Tool Kit to help me weed my project.
New Tool Kit:
I really like the weeding tool as it really helped me with my project, especially with removing the vinyl I didn’t need.
Now that your vinyl is ready – cut the names so they are not all together and then get your pillowcases ready for the vinyl. I like to use my iron at a 5 or 6 heat setting and I quickly run it over the fabric to add a little heat and then add the iron on vinyl name that I cut out.
Place a dish cloth over the vinyl and iron. I ironed about 20 seconds and checked it and was still not adhered. So I ironed another 30 seconds and that worked. Remember to let it cool off before you remove the plastic film.
I just love the how the black glitter looks on these!
Here is Kayden’s finished pillowcase – Love it!
I did not put names on mine or Ryan’s pillows
Here are the kids pillows
I think the family will love getting these on Christmas Eve!
