I am excited to show my Pottery Barn Basket Knock Off! On another Blog seventhirtythree they are having a Knock It Off Contest

Here is how I made it:
I was wandering thru DI(thrift store) and found this snowman basket. It has the perfect basket for what I needed and it only cost $1.
So I took off the top and handle and had the basket I needed.

I bought a yard of burlap – about $2. The piece I ended up using for the basket was 24″x 22″
Using my glue gun I put a line of glue around the entire inside of the bottom of the basket and then adhered the burlap. Because burlap has many holes I used a pen to push down the fabric.

I then went around the entire basket making folds in the burlap. As I made a fold I would put a dot of hot glue under it to help keep it down.
I wanted to use a bigger thicker rope for this but I was making this in the middle of Superbowl. I asked my hubby if he could grab me some of his rope and he rolled his eyes and told me to ask him after the Superbowl. I guess our priorities are kinda different 🙂 Anyway I wanted to finish right then so I grabbed some Jute I had and doubled it and tied it around the basket. Once that was done I went around and trimmed off the extra burlap and tried to make it pretty.
And though it isn’t exactly like the Pottery Barn basket I am very happy with how mine turned out!
