Adison just loves to dress up, it’s a daily thing! So when it is time to plan for Halloween she has so many ideas. She thinks all year about what she wants to dress up and changes her mind constantly. Quite often it is a Disney Princess, a witch or occasionally a vampire. I think last year she ended up being a Vampire for the school parade but when we went out Trick or Treating she was Belle from Beauty and the Beast. This year she is excited to be Red Riding Hood!
I had the opportunity to review a costume on my blog this year. Wholesale Costume Club offered a costume in return for a review. So Adison and I sat down together and started looking through their site for costume ideas. The first thing she wanted to look for was Monster High Costumes, Ever After Costumes and Princess Costumes. She made several choices. We then went to the Tween Costumes category and started looking through everything. When she saw the Red Riding Hood costume she wanted to go no further. That was the one she loved and wanted. She has always loved the character and it just hadn’t dawned on her that there would be a costume for this. I think she is especially excited for the Red Riding Hood costume because of the new Into the Woods movie coming out this December (we just can’t wait!) featuring Disney’s Red Riding Hood
So we placed our order and about a week later received it in the mail. I am used to buying costumes in store and am always dissapointed by the amount of fabric on the costumes. So I honestly didn’t know what to expect with this costume. What I found I liked. The costume has a good amount of fabric and it covers her quite modestly. It is a one piece costume so the cape/dress is all one piece so it holds in place well. The skirt almost reaches her knees and Adison just loves the hood. It also came with black stockings and a black necklace. We just love the lace and ruffles and fabric. Just look at these beautiful sleeves.
One thing that is important to me is that she will be able to be warm when we go Trick or Treating at night – it gets cold here. I think she will be able to put on some black leggings and a black long sleeve shirt underneath to help with warmth and the costume will still be really cute.
One problem we have with costumes is they can be itchy. So I wanted to see if this one passed the itch test. I didn’t mention itchiness at all to her – because I didn’t want to put it in her mind. So I just listened while we took pictures to see if she complained at all. After a little bit she did say that she had some itching. I inspected where it was to see if it is something easily fixed. It is where the lacy underskirt was sewn in around her waist. We discussed the black undershirt and leggings she would be wearing on Halloween with it and she felt that would keep the itchiness at bay.
I asked Adison what her favorite parts of the costume are and she said the hood and sleeves. Oh and she also said she loved the makeup – that is one reason she loves Halloween, the one day I let her wear some makeup. I was very pleased with this costume and will for sure be ordering from them in the future for our Halloween Costumes.
What are your kids going to be for Halloween this year?
