For us school starts next week. NEXT WEEK!! Can you believe it! I am not sure if I am excited or if I want to cry. I will really miss my kiddos but we need the structure that school provides. Along with school shopping I have also been planning some Back To School Teacher Gifts.
Back To School Teacher Gift
This gift box is so super easy to create. You really could fill it with anything you think your childs teacher would enjoy. Some homebaked treats, a giftcard to their favorite place – the box is really big so you can fit a lot into it. Stampin Up provided me with the supplies for this project and I can’t wait to show you how easy it is to make!
Links below go to Stampin Up or Amazon (I am an Amazon Affiliate)
- Cardstock – Green, Red, White (Whisper White), Brown
- Yellow Striped Ribbon
- Alphabet Embossing Folder – the one from Stampin Up is no longer available. You probably could use this one from Sizzix
- Stazon Black Ink
- Cherry Cobbler Ink
- Builder Owl Punch
- Scallop Circle Punch
- small scrap of patterned scrapbook paper
- Mini Clothespins
- Adhesive – I used the Stampin Up Snail
- Googley Eyes
- Paper Cutter
- Num Num Stamp Set – This stamp set is no longer available – I would use any word stamp you have that would fit the idea with a tag punch
- Extra Large Gift Box – The extra large gift box is no longer available – but you could use any of these box ideas
Okay so the first thing I did was put the box together. Filled the box up with goodies and tied the yellow ribbon around the box. I tied a knot at the top.
Using my paper cutter I cut the green cardstock to a 5×5 piece and the red cardstock to a 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 piece. I then inked the edges of the cardstock with the black Stazon Ink pad.
Next I embossed the red cardstock with the Alpha embossing folder. I love how this adds dimension and looks so fun. To give a bit of a distressed look I rubbed the black ink over the letters so they would have a bit of a “pop”. With your adhesive, glue the red piece down onto the green piece (center it).
Using my Num Num stamp set and Cherry Cobbler ink I stamped and made an “Enjoy” tag and cut it out with some scissors.
To make my super cute owl I used the owl punch and punched out the pieces in red, brown, and a patterned scrapbook piece of paper. To make the owls wings I used the scallop circle punch on some brown cardstock and then cut it in half.
Using my adhesive I glued on the half scalloped circles to make brown wings onto the brown body. Then I glued on the little owl dress (from the patterned paper). Next I cut some dimensionals in quarters and used one for the red heart and two for the googley eyes.
Using one of the mini clothespins I pinned together the owl and tag and attached them to the red alpha paper with another dimensional dot.
Adhere the green/red square to the front of the box on top of the ribbon and you are done! I just love how the dimensionals lift the owl and tag off the box.
Isn’t it so fun!!!!
Don’t you think your childs teacher will just love this?
Amy from The Happy Scraps made a project as well using some of the same products. To see how she used them be sure to hop over to her site and check out her Back to School Teacher Gift.
