Summer Letter Set #KickOffToSummerWeek2014 – Day 2

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my discolsure police here.

I first shared this Summer Letter Set over on The Wood Connection.  In case you didn’t get to see it I wanted to share it with you today.  I thought it would be perfect for the Kick Off to Summer Week.

I really love this letter set for a few reasons – The number one reason is because it is my name – I mean seriously – it is so fun to see my name in big letters.  This Summer Letter set also helps remind me that Summer is coming even though it is still a bit chilly outside.  I think I will probably display it year round in my craft room. Today I am going to share how I finished my Summer letter set.

Summer Letter Set

Summer Letter Set I picked out some papers I loved and then traced each letter onto the paper. The Wood Connection has a really good paper to wood tutorial that you can see for more in depth detail. Cut out your letters from the paper and make sure they match up nicely to your wood letters. Next I painted the sides and back of each wood letter – I painted each letter a different color that matched the paper I would have on it. Paper collage Once the paint is dry I glued the papers onto the letters with Mod Podge (you can also use wood glue). paper on letters For the Watermelon “U” you will want to paint the beadboard piece red and the seeds black then glue them onto the watermelon once the paper has dried. watermelon To embellish my letter set a bit I added some ladybugs and some ribbon. For the ladybugs I just painted them black and added some red glitter. Once these dry glue them to various parts of your letter set. Add some pretty ribbon by tying it around some of the letters – so pretty! Summer Letter Set I am just loving this Summer letter set and am so excited to display this in my living room this Summer – and in my Craft room the rest of the year! Summer Letter Set
