Wicked Witch Halloween Decorative Board Tutorial

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my discolsure police here.

I love making decorative boards to my on my shelves and mantle for the holidays.  A couple of weeks ago I shared my Crow and Candelabra Wood Board and today I am going to share my Wicked Witch Board.  It is pretty much the same idea but I added just a few more steps.  I bought the paper for this project several years ago but you could use this idea with other halloween papers that you find.

Supplies Needed:

  • Wood Board
  • Scrapbook Paper with nice image
  • Black Paint and Paint Brush
  • Paper Cutter
  • Black Ink
  • Mod Podge
  • Vinyl or stickers that spell out Wicked
  • Glitter Glue (you can always check out my Glitter Glue Tutorial)

Okay so let me show you how easy this is.  The board I picked out for this project is 5 1/2  inches wide and comes in different lengths.

Wood

I grabbed it in the finished wood section of Home Depot.

I measured and cut my paper to figure out how tall I wanted the wood and cut my board to about 1/2 inch taller.  My board is 10 1/4″ x 5 1/2″. Next I painted the board black and inked the eges of my paper in black ink.

Once the board was dry I spread Mod Podge onto the board and then centered the paper and pressed it down onto the board/Mod Podge.  Press the paper everywhere to get out any air bubbles.  I use a plastic scraper/squeegie (you could use a credit card) to press the paper down and slide out any air bubbles.  Wipe off any excess Mod Podge with a paper towel and let dry.  The Mod Podge will dry clear.

Once the paper and mod podge is dry I add my vinyl word that says Wicked.  If you don’t have vinyl you could use stickers.

Wicked Vinyl

I like to add  some Mod podge over the top that has glitter to give it a fun look as well as seal the vinyl onto the board.  I have a quick tutorial on how to make glitter glue if you need it.

So fun and wickedly cute for Halloween!

You can make this yourself or grab one of the finished ones I have in my Etsy Shop!
