Witches Night Treat Bag Tutorial

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my discolsure police here.

I have been waiting for what feels like forever to start sharing some Halloween craft posts.  So I am very excited today to share my Witches night Treat Bag.  Be sure to enter the giveaway at the end of the tutorial for a Witches Night Stamp Set!  I just love making cute treat bags around Halloween time and I am just loving how nice this one turned out!

Witches Night Treat Bags

I was able to choose some new items from the Holiday Stampin Up Catalog to share craft ideas with my readers – thanks Stampin Up! Let me show you how I made this.

Witches Night Treat Bag Tutorial

Supplies Needed:

Links in list below go to Stampin up or Amazon (I am an Amazon Affiliate)

  • Witches Night Stamps – This Stamp Set is no longer available for purchase but any Halloween Stamp set would look great!
  • Acrylic Block for stamping
  • Gift Bag Punch Board
  • Orange Cardstock Pack
  • Black Spider Web Doilies – These are no long availalbe for purchase so I found you some black paper doilies on Amazon
  • Ribbon – Yu can use any orange/grey ribbon – I used white ribbon and inked it
  • Sponge Daubers
  • Grey Marker
  • Orange and black Ink – Basic Black
  • Scissors
  • Paper Cutter
  • Adhesvie (glue dots, double sided tape)

Witches Night Treat Bags supplies

First we are going to make our bag with the Gift Bag Punch Board and Happy Haunting Cardstock Pack.  This video from Stampin Up shows how easy it is to make a bag using their punch board.

Following the instructions of the video above I used the orange cardstock from the cardstock pack to make my bags.  I made medium sized bags.  My starting piece of cardstock measured 7 inches tall by 11 inches wide.

After they are all cut out I followed the instructions from the video and folded/taped them into bags.

Then using the stamps I stamped onto the cream cardstock with orange and black ink.

Cut out your stamped images and then ink the edges with black ink

I cut the black doilies in half

Then filled up the bags with treats and then using some adhesive or a mini glue dot I added half of a dolie to the front top of the bag.

Also on the front I adhered one of the stamped images.

For the top I want to close with some ribbon.  I have this white glitter ribbon that is lovely, but it is the wrong color.  I fixed that with some ink. With this ribbon you can flip it over and using an ink pen color the other side.  The color will show through – so now I have some grey ribbon that will match my bags better.

If you don’t have an ink marker you can just use regular ink.  I also wanted to make some orange ribbon so I used the orange ink with a sponge dobber to make orange ribbon.

Run the ribbon through the holes and tie at the front and you have some fun treat bags!

I love Halloween! All year I look forward to when I can finally decorate the house for Halloween. I love picking out and puting the kids costumes together. My favorite thing to do is to go to the pumbpkin patch and pick out our pumpkins. Then we spend a day carving and decorating them all.

Halloween is the best. I always remember my Mom making treat bags with all sorts of goodies. She use to place them standing up in an empty cardboard can soda case. I use to say look at all those bags. Since then I have always made bags up for Halloween, but I have never seen any as pretty as yours.

My favorite part of Halloween is getting dressed up and giving away candy to the Trick-or-Treaters. I love seeing the kids in their costumes and the way their eyes light up when you give them candy.
