How to make your own paper Easter grass

This post may contain affiliate links. Read my discolsure police here.

Earlier this week there Dianna shared How to Grow your own Easter Grass, well today I am going to share with you how to Make your own paper Easter grass.  When I think of the Easter baskets my kids will be receiving they are usually full of plastic easter eggs with small treats inside, a simple fun item or toy that I know they will love, a chocolate Easter bunny and a few other random things.  But always there is some Easter grass at the bottom of the basket.

Make Your Own Easter Grass

The grass helps fill the basket as well as add some color.  Easter grass is not expensive but I have two reasons I like to make my own grass:

  • Homemade paper grass is not clingy. The plastic, clingy Easter grass you buy at stores drives me a bit crazy.  It clings to EVERYTHING!  You know when your child starts pulling out all of their goodies, that grass is going to get on the floor- on the table -pretty much everywhere – it is inevitable!  Then you try and vacuum it up and you will forever in your life have strings of Easter grass wrapped around the roller bar of your vacuum.  So make some homemade paper grass and get your sanity back – so much easier to clean up!
  • If you are like me you may have forgotten to purchase Easter Grass – or not enough grass and it is too late to go back to the store to grab more.  So you need to improvise with another solution – making your own is the perfect solution!  So let me show you how easy it is!

How to make your own paper Easter Grass

Supplies Needed:

  • Crepe Paper – you could use regular strips of paper but Crepe paper is the perfect size.
  • Fringe Scissors – I received my fringe scissors last year and I just LOVE them!

Supplies

Crepe paper is the perfect size and it is also thin enough that I am able to layer several pieces on top of each other.  There are also so many different colors of crepe paper so you could have any color of grass that you want!

Use your fringe scissors to cut through the crepe paper.  It slices through easily and is quick.

In no time you will have some of your own homemade Easter grass and will no longer have to worry about cleaning up that clingy, plastic grass!

Give it a try you will see how incredibly easy it is!

What a GREAT idea! I hate Easter grass because it is such a mess, but this seems like it would be much better to fill Easter baskets with. Thandk for sharing over at Motivational Monday!

What a great idea, I don’t like the plastic grass either. It gets all over the place and I worry about my pets eating it.

I have tons of craft supplies, but haven’t seen the scissors before, how did I miss them??
